How We’re Working Through Covid-19 at Alert Level 1
Over the last few weeks the way we deliver our service has rapidly changed to allow us to continue to meet client needs. The Ministry of Justice and Land Information New Zealand have provided a number of practical allowances and provisions which mean we can witness the execution of most documents remotely. We can continue to work for you, and with you, during this difficult time in order to meet your needs. We are making the most of video calls and apps which allow video meetings, these include: Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom and Skype. If there are alternative apps which you would like to use we are open to using those to make the process as smooth as possible for you.
If you do not have a printer then Digital Execution of documents is possible and we can assist you in setting this function up from your home. Physical documents may also be delivered to you, signed by you and then returned in a designated drop box outside our office during office hours.
If you do need to visit us hand sanitiser will be available for you, and we will require all visitors to utilise the hand sanitiser. We will also insist that staff members, and members of the public, stay away from our offices if they feel any sickness which could indicate Covid-19. We also have a contact tracing register which visitors will need to complete.
Not only has the way we practise law changed, but so has the legal landscape we operate in. Alert Level 4 brought massive upheaval and there was uncertainty as to how the rules would impact contracts that had been entered into. Guidance has been given by the Ministry of Justice, The Auckland District Law Society and The New Zealand Law Society. Opinions have also been offered by various special interest groups. Unfortunately not all of the opinions and guidance have been helpful or correct.
It is important that you discuss matters with us. Every situation is different. People are being faced with unique problems. What we do is make sure that you are getting the best possible advice, for your particular situation. We are proud to say that as matters have developed our clients have consistently been given the best advice to allow them to make the best decisions for their situation.
As we transition through the Alert Levels new situations will arise and new matters will need to be considered. From a total lockdown we are slowly moving towards a less restrictive lifestyle – however restrictions do continue to apply to many businesses and those restrictions still have significant financial impacts. We can assist you with these matters and help you anticipate issues before they arise.
If you have any questions as to whether we can help you please do contact us. Our team is back in the office, but also retains the ability to work from home should the Alert Level increase.
We know this is a stressful time. We can and will be flexible for you. We are all in this together.
